From the Archives: A Mother's Love

The expression of a mother's love for her children is a great illustration of our Heavenly Father's love for His children, as Pastor Okubo teaches in his 2004 Mother's Day message.

Celebrate Mom

For the entire month of May we have a special section dedicated to Mother's Day. It includes the origins of the holiday, what second graders think God made moms for, our infamous list of famous momisms, and the lyrics to "Total Momsense" (see below).

Total Momsense

If you're a web-surfing mom, you may already know of this wild rendition of momisms on YouTube by Christian comedienne Anita Renfroe, sung to the William Tell/Lone Ranger overture. We have the song lyrics and links to the original concert video.

Welcome from Our Pastor

Pastor Mason OkuboI wish to welcome everyone who is visiting our website. We are very proud of it and of the ministry it represents. Immanuel First Lutheran Church and School has shared God's love, comfort and hope to the people of West Covina and the surrounding community for over 50 years.

A diverse group of people call Immanuel First their home. Life can be filled with ups and downs which make us feel isolated and alone. But as the body of Christ, the things which bind us together are so much stronger. We are a people of the One! (Eph 4:4)

  • One Body and One Spirit which unites us.
  • One Hope which calls us.
  • One Lord, Jesus Christ, one faith, one baptism.

In so many words, we are a family with God as Father over all. Like a family, we laugh, we cry, we sing, we worship together... but the key word is "together."

If you are looking for a place to belong, we invite you to join our family. Come worship with us on Sunday. Looking for a school? We are the IFL Lions! Come join our pride! (pre-K to 8th)

I look forward to meeting you.

God's blessings!
Pastor Mason Okubo
